Building a Northern Powerhouse is about boosting the local economy by investing in skills, innovation and the digital economy. With powers and budgets now devolved to directly elected mayors, decisions in the North are finally being made by the North. International demand for high quality, innovative products and services from Northern businesses is growing, and in the year to March 2019 the region exported £59.6bn worth of goods overseas (UK Gov figures). Yet despite this, there is still a Southern bias to much of the HR & Payroll technology industry.
With offices based in the north of England, ADP sought to reset the balance by holding the first “Northern Business Forum”, bringing together some of the North’s leading minds from the world of HR and Payroll, at the home of one of Europe’s largest football clubs, Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. With two keynote speeches and an expert panel discussion, the Forum looked at the pressing issues of digital transformation: automation, modern HRM technology, and motivation and productivity within a disparate employee base.
